Description
This image was taken in the Texas panhandle.
We have a large population of mule deer in our neighborhood. Many have been fed by the residents until they become pests. I admit, I have given them feed and leftovers also. It's difficult to say no to their warm, brown eyes.
I had been riding my indoor bicycle on the patio and this one stood and watched me the whole time. She made me feel a little guilty. After I went into another room she finally left. They make the rounds every morning and evening and one can almost set their clocks by their arrival.
I added a texture to the background to block some of the distractions in the back yard.
The mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) is a deer indigenous to western North America; it is named for its ears, which are large like those of the mule. There are believed to be several subspecies, including the black-tailed deer.
Unlike the related white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), mule deer are generally more associated with the land west of the Missouri River, and more specifically with the Rocky Mountain region of North America. Mule deer have also been introduced to Argentina.

I had to revisit this girl. I miss the days of waking up to these little beauties peeking in the windows. Gorgeous capture.

How familiar this fabulous and delightful image looks, since the friendly mule deer herd we've known for years peers into our windows here in Wyoming! We're so lucky to enjoy such beauty in our lives! fav

These little guys can become quite the pests as you mentioned. Often as not, they will go eat your landscaping if you don't feed them. It's kind of like being held for ransom in case you don't feed them. :o) Excellent capture. You got all that yearning in her eyes for your to feed her. :o)
Karen Slagle replied:
Thank you Bunny, they will eat your plants too, even though we feed them. I don't feed them anymore.

Karen Slagle replied:
Thank you Paul. Some of the deer are so tame they would come in the house if we let them.

Thank you Karen. Shooting through windows is not easy and sometimes does not work.
