Description
A Nodding Thistle, pre bloom. The thistle is in the sunflower family and can be a pest. I thought this looked like an artichoke. I took this image in my pasture in Texas with a 105 macro/micro lens.

Gorgeous capture Karen. We saw our first big batch Sunday. The Giant Russian Thistles. They looked big enough to be artichokes (related) ready to pick. :o)

Thank you Bunny, I too thought they looked like artichokes and wondered if they were related.

Awesome closeup. The Thistle has such an interesting design, like a green starburst :) - v/f

Thanks Bob. I took another image yesterday and it's starting to turn purple. Glad you like it.
