Description
This image was taken in the Texas panhandle.
I looked out the door and was surrounded by these beautiful mountain bluebirds. They were in the tree by the house, in the juniper tree in the horse lot and on the roof of the house. By the time I managed to get my camera and lens on my monopod I only got off a couple of shots and something spooked them.
I added a texture to hide the tree twigs and make the bird stand out against the background.
Mountain Bluebirds are characterized by an overall blue wash. They lack the bold rufous coloring of Western Bluebirds. Males are a striking sky-blue color. Females are predominantly gray with a bluish tint, especially on the wings and tail. Females have a white eye-ring, which males lack, and some females may have some light rufous on their throats and breasts.
