Description
Life among the ruins...This old rock house stands abandoned. The roof is caving in and the timbers are falling. The weeds have taken over where once grass grew. Some sunflowers, native to this land, thrive at what was once the front door. I don't know how long this old home has been abandoned but a family once lived and loved here. The father might have farmed the land in order to feed his family. His wife would have slaved over a hot stove, then one day the rains stopped and the land dried up leaving nothing but dirt flying in the winds and weeds taking over where crops once thrived and grew.--------------------------------------
I took this image on the eastern plains of New Mexico. It's on a dirt road in the middle of what appears to be nowhere. However remnants of these hispanic families still live in small settlements, far off the main road. I used a Nikon D700 and a NIkkor 28-200 lens.

A gorgeous capture and your story probably isn't too far off from what happened. In Wyoming, you really don't have much growing for crops so it's all ranching, cattle and sheep. Other towns either cater to oil, uranium, or tourists.

Wyoming and NM are miles apart but I feel sure their stories are all the same...Thanks so very much my friend.
